PSG traveled to Saudi Arabia to play the Riyadh All-Stars in a friendly match in the country's capital, where Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo likely met for the last time.
The friendly was a part of the Saudi festival Riyadh Seasons, which was sponsored by the Saudi government. It was a great show with nine goals, a red card, and endless star power throughout the 90 minutes of end-to-end action. PSG prevailed 5-4 thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappe, Messi, Ronaldo, and others.
Messi also gave teammates Mbappe and Neymar chances from the spot kick, while Ronaldo scored twice, once from open play and once from a penalty. After Neymar had missed an opportunity to score, Mbappe converted his chance.
PSG was down a man for much of the game after Juan Bernat was sent off in the 39th minute for a last-man foul, but it didn't matter because both teams took advantage of the exhibition atmosphere to put on a show in front of the goal.
The two teams will hope that strong performances can propel them further into the season's competitive matches, even though this match was little more than a showcase event between two star-studded squads featuring two iconic players. Both sides' attacking talent truly stole the show.
