Couple misses their reception after getting stuck in an elevator

After being stuck in an elevator for two hours, a newlywed couple missed their own wedding reception. According to Wbtv.com, Victoria and Panav Jha of North Carolina were traveling to their reception party on the 16th floor of the Grand Bohemian hotel when their lift became stuck between the ground floor and the first floor.

Firefighters were later dispatched to the scene after the rescue services attempted to repair the lift. They quickly realized that this was not like their usual elevator rescue calls.

Panav Jha stated to WBTV, "We go up maybe five feet and then just stopped." I thought, "Hmm, that's not normal," because the door was slightly ajar.

There were four other guests stuck, including Victoria's sister, in addition to the bride and groom.

David Budd, a firefighter, stated, "We went through all of the usual troubleshooting that you do on an elevator call and none of that was working. That's when we realized we were going to elevate it to what it ended up being, which was a rope rescue."

The firefighter chose the "rope rescue," in which they opened the elevator's top and then pulled each of the six people one by one to the fourth floor.

The incident was shared on Facebook by the Charlotte Fire Department, along with a picture of firefighters and newlyweds. Rescue at Wedding Night: First and foremost, happy wedding day to Mr. and Mrs. Jha. Charlotte Fire was not officially invited, but neither were we wedding crashers. "Our crews responded to an elevator entrapment early this morning," they wrote.
