In Hyderabad, a group of street dogs viciously attacked and killed a boy who was four years old.
The shocking incident, which was captured on a CCTV camera, took place in the Amberpet area at a car service station where Gangadhar, the child's father, works as a watchman. Because Sunday was a holiday for children, Gangadhar took his six-year-old daughter and son to the service center with him.
The boy was attacked by three to four dogs as he was walking alone toward his sister, who was reportedly sitting in the parking lot cabin while their father was working elsewhere. The boy had suffered severe injuries to his neck and other areas by the time his sister ran to the scene and called their father.
The boy, who was seriously injured, was rushed to a hospital nearby, but he was pronounced dead.
"I thought it would be some kid-friendly entertainment. I took them to the service center for the first time. After the funeral at their hometown of Indalwai in the Nizamabad district, the grieving father told reporters, "It was all over in ten to fifteen minutes."
The heartbreaking CCTV footage of the incident was widely circulated on social media as well as by the government of Telangana, and Hyderabad civic authorities were criticized for the sudden death of a preschooler. The boy was seen attempting to flee, but the threatening dogs surrounded him and beat him up.
Minister K. T. Rama Rao of Municipal Administration and Urban Development expressed sorrow for the tragic loss.
The incident has deeply affected me. Through initiatives like animal care centers and birth control, we have been trying to deal with the problem of street dogs all over the state. We can't bring the youngster back yet we guarantee the general population to do everything in our ability to guarantee that such occurrences don't repeat," Rao said on Tuesday.
