Wednesday's shooting at an El Paso, Texas, shopping mall resulted in one fatality, three injuries, and one arrest, according to authorities.
According to El Paso Police Department spokesperson Robert Gomez, officers responded to the Cielo Vista Mall around 5:10 p.m. in response to reports of shots fired in a food court area.
He claimed that four people were shot, one of whom died. Gomez stated that one person was in police custody and that another could "be outstanding."

The shooting's motivation has not been established by investigators, nor has it been stated whether the victims were targeted. Authorities stated that the mall scene was still active.
Greg Abbott, the Republican governor of Texas, claimed that he discussed the shooting with El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser.
According to Abbott's tweet, "l offered the full support of the State of Texas, including the assistance of the Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas Division of Emergency Management to help the city of El Paso respond to this tragic event."
Veronica Escobar, a Democrat who represents El Paso in the U.S. House of Representatives, claimed that she was in touch with law enforcement. She noted that the shooting took place in the same location as the 2019 Walmart shooting in which a gunman killed 23 people.
