India vs New Zealand 2nd ODI Highlights: Ind Crush NZ

India cruised to an eight-wicket victory over New Zealand in the second ODI in Raipur, sharing a 72-run partnership for the first wicket. This resulted in India winning the three-match ODI rubber 2-0. In just the 21st over, the hosts went after the pitiful target of 109.

Rohit and Gill used the pull, hook, and drive to put India in control on a surface that appeared to have softened during the second innings. As he completed the reverse sweep off Mitchell Santner, Rohit also gave the impression that he was eager to try out some new shots. In the end, Rohit attempted a shot across the line off Henry Shipley in the 15th over, but was caught in front and the visitors lost their first wicket of the innings. Rohit was hurt by the fact that the ball stayed quite low.

With a pull and slog sweep, Gill brought India closer to the goal. However, India lost another wicket against the flow of play when Santner bowled Virat Kohli for the second time in the series. Tom Latham removed the bails behind the stumps after the left-arm spinner lured Kohli out of the crease. With a boundary hit by Santner, Gill quickly scored the winning runs.

The bowlers laid the groundwork for India's victory. By removing Finn Allen from the game in the very first over, Mohammed Shami set the tone. Shami eliminated Allen, who prefers to stay back, after he struggled across the line. After that, Mohammed Siraj used his signature three-quarter seam to nip it away from Henry Nichols, who was using his left hand, and force him to edge one behind. Daryl Mitchell was fired by Shami as a result; getting a leading edge back to the bowler from the fourth batter.

As Hardik Pandya pouched a brilliant one-handed return catch to send Conway back to the hut, the succession of wickets continued. As New Zealand fell to a precarious 15 for 5, Latham also did not last long as he timidly edged Shardul Thakur to Shubman Gill. Michael Bracewell and Glenn Phillips attempted to salvage the innings at that point, with the tourists in dire straits. However, as he top-edged a pull to the wicketkeeper, Bracewell was unable to replicate his heroism from the first ODI.

After that, Phillips and Mitchell Santner collaborated on a second promising stand of 47. However, Phillips hit a slower shot off Washington Sundar to deep midwicket in the very next over to clean up Santner. Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav took the two remaining wickets to complete the job.
