Naruto Gets Four New Anime Episodes to Honor for its 20th Anniversary

On March 9th, the Naruto anime franchise’s official website revealed an exciting announcement: to celebrate its 20th anniversary, the Naruto television anime will again be gracing our screens with four “brand-new” episodes in September 2023. Fans in Japan can relive the nostalgia as selected episodes of the Naruto anime are set to rerun in July.

Before we dive into the exciting news, we must first address some sad news for Boruto fans. Unfortunately, the series will be going on an indefinite hiatus after episode 293, which is set to release on March 26th. The official website has referred to this as “Boruto: Naruto Next Generation Part 1,” and has reassured fans that production on Boruto part 2 is already in progress.

In October, Studio Pierrot kicked off the 20th-anniversary celebration of Naruto by releasing a condensed “Road of Naruto” video of 10 minutes. This video takes viewers on a journey through two decades of Naruto anime history, featuring all-new animation footage.

What’s truly impressive about this video was that it was completely re-animated. This means that even the most iconic scenes have been given a fresh new look, making them even more enjoyable for longtime fans. The art style was simply stunning and captivating, drawing viewers even deeper into the world of Naruto.

The “Road of Naruto” video is a true gem and a must-see for any fan of the series. In fact, some fans were so blown away by the quality of the re-animated footage that they began to call for the entire series to be re-done.

And it seems that Studio Pierrot has heard their pleas! The studio has announced that they will be releasing four new episodes of Naruto, though no details regarding the plot or the exact release date have been revealed just yet. But based on the stunning 10-minute clip released back in October, fans can certainly expect some high-quality anime production.

The Naruto franchise spans across multiple mediums, including television anime, anime films, and original video anime. The original Naruto television anime aired from 2002 to 2007, while its sequel series, Naruto Shippūden, ran from 2007 until 2017. With this new content on the horizon, fans of the franchise are sure to be in for a treat.
