Google Chrome will stop working on this computers

Chrome 110 is scheduled to be released by Google this year, possibly on February 7, 2023. The tech giant will also end its support for older versions of Chrome with the new release. Chrome 109 is the final version of Chrome that is compatible with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, as stated on Google's support page.

By January 15, 2023, Google will stop supporting older versions of Chrome. Therefore, Chrome 110, the most recent version, will be the first version of Chrome to require Windows 10 or later. Notably, Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users will be able to use the older version of Chrome, but they will not receive any newer updates, including security updates and other updates. The final version of Chrome that is compatible with Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 is Chrome 109. "The first version of Chrome that requires Windows 10 or later is Chrome 110, which is tentatively scheduled for release on February 7, 2023," Google stated in a blog post earlier this year.

The tech giant says that in order to continue using Chrome, its cross-platform web browser, users will need to upgrade to Windows 10 or 11. To continue receiving future releases of Chrome, you will need to ensure that your device is running Windows 10 or later. This coincides with Microsoft's decision to end support for Windows 8.1 extended support and Windows 7 ESU on January 10, 2023," the blog post announcement continues.

Importantly, older versions of Chrome will continue to function, but users of Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 will not receive any additional updates. Since the operating system relies on security updates, users should upgrade to a more recent version of Windows.

The updated Chrome 110 version was initially scheduled to be released in July 2021 by Google, but the company delayed the release due to a pandemic.

Why upgrade Chrome to a newer version?

Installing the most recent version of Windows will ensure that Chrome receives the most recent security updates and enhancements. In order to safeguard PCs from malicious attacks and other cyber vulnerabilities, such as identity theft, phishing, viruses, trojans, spyware, adware, and other malware, updates are essential. In addition, updating Chrome aids in the browser's defense against malicious and deceptive websites that could harm your computer or steal your passwords. In the event that vulnerabilities are discovered in prior updates, Google also releases new updates and security patches at the appropriate times. Additionally, the new updates include brand-new features designed to improve user experience.
