The new iOS 16.3 by Apple has everything—bug fixes, a new physical security key as part of the two-factor authentication sign-in process, and a Black History Month-themed Unity wallpaper—and is currently available for download for iPhones.
The second-generation HomePod, which was recently unveiled and will go on sale for $299 on February 3, 2023, will be supported by Apple's iOS 16.3 software.
In the meantime, a new software update gives Emergency SOS via satellite new uses. Emergency SOS now offers the ability to "Call Quietly," which enables users to make an emergency SOS call without their iPhones flashing or sounding an alarm.
Aside from that, as part of the two-factor authentication sign in process, iOS 16.3 includes security keys for Apple IDs, allowing users to have strong account security with a physical security key.
Other features included in iOS 16.3 include:
- Fixes a problem in Freeform where some finger or Apple Pencil-created drawing strokes may not appear on shared boards.
- solves the problem of the Lock Screen's black wallpaper.
- resolves the issue of intermittently appearing dotted horizontal lines when starting the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
- changes the problem in which the Home app status doesn't show the Home Lock Screen widget.
- resolves the problem in which Siri does not properly respond to user-submitted music requests.
- resolves discrepancies in which Siri does not correctly understand CarPlay requests.
