Acer launches new Nitro laptops with AMD Ryzen 7000 processors and GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs

The Ryzen 7000 series of laptop processors from AMD have just been unveiled, and as a result, numerous new laptops with the new features are also being announced. Acer is adding a few new Ryzen-powered devices to its lineup, most of which are AMD-powered versions of laptops that were announced earlier this week. Since Intel made its new processor announcements first, those announcements took place a little bit earlier.

The Nitro 16 and Nitro 17 gaming laptops, in addition to the more mainstream Acer Swift Go 14, are among the new AMD-powered Acer laptops.

Acer Nitro 16 and Nitro 17

Acer is introducing the new Nitro 16 and Nitro 17 gaming laptops with Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs and AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors. Although the GPU configurations of both laptops have not been made public, they are available with up to an AMD Ryzen 9 processor.

The Acer Nitro 16 has a display that is 16 inches tall and has a 16:10 aspect ratio, making it arguably the more distinctive of the two. It has a 165Hz refresh rate and either WUXGA (1920 x 1200) or WQXGA (2560 x 1600) resolution, making it suitable for gaming and some productivity tasks. Additionally, the screen covers 100% of sRGB, making it suitable for office work.

The Acer Nitro 17 has a 17.3-inch display with the more conventional 16:9 aspect ratio. It is available in Full HD models with a refresh rate of either 144Hz or 165Hz or in Quad HD models with a refresh rate of 165Hz.

There are a lot of ports on both laptops, including USB4, HDMI 2.1, and Intel Killer E2600G Ethernet support.

The Acer Nitro 16 and Nitro 17 with AMD Rzen 7000 will be available in May, with prices starting at $1,149.99 (€1,499 in Europe) for the Nitro 16 and $1,199.99 (€1,599) for the Nitro 17.

Acer Swift Go 14

The Swift Go 14 is yet another Acer laptop equipped with AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors. The Acer Swift Go 14 with AMD processors, like the Intel model, has a 14-inch 2.8K (2880 x 1800) OLED display with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The display should provide a great viewing experience due to its 500 nits of brightness and its 100% DCI-P3 color space coverage. It also has a refresh rate of 90 Hz, which makes animations and motion look much smoother and makes the experience overall more pleasant.

Acer claims that this machine has a battery life of over 9.5 hours, and it uses its TwinAir cooling system, which features dual fans and copper heat pipes to keep things cool. Since the keyboard also serves as an air inlet, the chassis ought to receive plenty of cool air.

The webcam on the Acer Swift Go 14 features temporal noise reduction and supports 1440p resolution for high-quality video. For improved video calling, it also supports Acer's PurifiedView suite of features.

In North America, the Acer Swift Go 14 with AMD Ryzen processors will be available in June for $849.99. It will go on sale in April and cost €999 in Europe.
