On social media, a video of an electrocution has gone viral. Standing on a railway platform, two people can be seen conversing in the viral video. Due to electrocution, one of them suddenly collapses on the railway track. Social media users who shared this video claimed that the man was using wireless earphones to surf the internet, resulting in his phone becoming connected to the railway station's high-tension line and electrocuting himself.
During the initial investigation, we used the InVid tool to conduct a Google reverse image search, which led us to a report from TV9 Bharatvarsh from December 8, 2022. "TTE was standing on the railway platform, the high tension wire fell, you will get goosebumps after watching the video," is the headline of the report. The viral incident was reported to have occurred in the West Bengal district of Kharagpur. Standing on the Kharagpur railway platform in West Bengal, a live wire snapped and fell on a traveling ticket examiner (TTE), electrocuting him. He got truly harmed in this occurrence and later moved to the Medical clinic.
The man in the video, Sujan Singh, was talking to another person on the platform when the live wire fell on him, according to an India Today report. The report also stated that he was later transported to the railway hospital in Kharagpur. According to the report, which cited the DRM, Mohammad Sujat Hashmi stated, "When asked about the live wire falling down, he said that it might have been caused by birds because they frequently pick up small wires." The assertion that TTE was electrocuted by earphones is untrue is supported by this.
We also found some pictures of Sujan Singh undergoing treatment at the
hospital shared by a Facebook account named Subhash Lal. According to the
information mentioned, Sujan Singh has suffered several injuries but he is
recovering well.
